The Nuggets @ The Brewery Tap Anonymous review

Popular DJ Ian Gray opened the Brewery Tap’s fab 60’s night bringing mods, beats and hippies together on the dance floor with a heady mix of Motown and Atlantic soul. The Nuggets followed, playing a blistering set of classics from the same period. Singer Karl Brown backed by the excellent band belted out Small Faces, Kinks and Stones favourites, as Phil Daniels and Lesley Ash buzzed coolly overhead on a Vespa to die for, on a huge screen showing Quadrophenia. West Coast harmonies soared as the band played Turtles, Mamas & Papas and Byrds numbers you’ve never heard played live, under impressive psychedelic lighting.

After an excellent DJ break with Woolly Bully a definite highlight, The Nuggets were back continuing their two and a half-hour set with ear bending encores Pinball Wizard, My Generation and a communal arm waving Daydream Believer. Great fun and terrific entertainment! Now where did I put my kaftan, man?
